Jessica Taylor, aged 71 years young
"Age is only a number" (Oprah)
Jessica Elizabeth Taylor is the daughter of the late Gordie Taylor, a Scottish actor and musician. She was a professional actress and an award winning Irish dancer during her childhood years.
Feel The Way That I Do
Kenny Holliday's gift to Jessica.
Brain-injury is the major
cause of death and disability worldwide
In 1967 Jessica Taylor from Listowel, Co. Kerry, emigrated to Canada. She was married with two infant daughters. Things went well for the family. Within a couple of years her husband Ken had an excellent position in enginerring and Jessica had opened her cosmetic shop in Bramalea, Ontario. Then tragedy struck. One evening in November 1969, in the premises of one of her suppliers, Jessica fell down a steep staircase and sustained multipul injuries, the worst injury being to her brain.
Over the following years Jessica lived in an incredible world on the fringes of reality where she re-experienced birth, infancy, adolescence and early adulthood--she displayed anew all the normal symptoms of these stages of life.
Jessica's accident and life struggle
lead to one of the longest court battles in Canadian history; a battle
marred by collusion and fraud, making both legal and medical history.
But somehow this amazing woman rises above it all. With the support of
new, trusted friends, the deep love of her daughters, her spiritual
beliefs, Jessica is healed. Rising like a phoenix from her own ashes,
she now embraces and supports others who have suffered the same
debilitating and mortifying injury. Her journey is truly a "triumph of
the human spirit."

Recently Jessica was honoured as a 'Hidden Hero' on Canadian T.V. She is presently working on her dissertation on ‘Theology and Its
Connection with the Paranormal’ and is working toward earning her
doctoral degree in theology.
Devoid of self-pity and loaded with determination, Jessica is a warm
and lovable character with whom any reader will find easy to identify.
Her story is a fantastic personal journey, as well as a journey of
rehabilitation against all odds. Not only will we change the way we
view brain-injury but also the way we think about and view our own
lives.

"Taylor’s book is exactly what the title says. Many books make promises but this author delivers the goods. I sat on the edge of my seat during the time of Jessica’s terrible accident. I was with her riding in the ambulance, waiting on pins and needles with her family to learn the dim prognosis. But the story only gets better.
During the time of her long and painful rehabilitation, Jessica does not spare herself. She tells it ‘like it is’ and we are captivated, charmed, entertained and the tears fall shamelessly and unchecked. My husband read her book after me and I saw the tears on his cheeks. He, too, had been through a terrible accident, experienced a brain injury and knew, like Jessica, that it was the will of the individual that caused a person to either overcome or give up. Jessica, of course, did triumph but she made sure that others knew her story – including royalty – and she also went back into the darkness to take the hands of others too afraid to believe that the light could still be theirs. Truly a masterful read."
